Cuban Taekwondo Champion Banned for Kicking Referee: Anger Management Issues

Kobe and Rest of Redeemed Team New Basketball Champions: China Loves Kobe

We, Jamaicans All Over The World, Are Proud of Athletes' Performance in Beijing 2008

Jamaica is under a tropical storm watch, but nothing can dampen the island nation's enthusiasm for its new Olympic sprint stars.

Already elated over Usain Bolt's world-record run in the men's 100 on Saturday, Jamaicans got something else to celebrate when Shelly-Ann Fraser, Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart swept the women's 100 on Sunday.

Olivia Grange, Jamaica's minister of information, culture, youth and sports, had said after Bolt's stunning 9.69 that she was "on top of the world." Where did Fraser's 10.78 and the photo-finish 10.98 each run by Simpson and Stewart leave her?

"I am on top and all over it," Grange said. "It's just wonderful. Amazing.

"It's national pride and it's an inspiration to all Jamaica, particularly to our young people. It gives us something we can say to our young people to strive for."

IOC Chief Did Not Like Bolt's Taunting and Theatricals After Winning, May Be The Only Human To Criticize Lightning Bolt

IOC president Jacques Rogge criticized Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt on Thursday for showing a lack of respect to other competitors after his record-breaking gold-medal performances in the 100 and 200 meters.

"That's not the way we perceive being a champion," Rogge said.

The International Olympic Committee chief hailed Bolt's stunning achievements in the two sprints, comparing him to American great Jesse Owens, but he said Bolt should have cut out the look-at-me flaunting and acknowledged the other athletes.

"I have no problem with him doing a show," Rogge said in an interview with three international news agency reporters. "I think he should show more respect for his competitors and shake hands, give a tap on the shoulder to the other ones immediately after the finish and not make gestures like the one he made in the 100 meters."

Question for this guy: Is there a new treatment for an athlete who is celebrating his victory? Why treat Michael Phelps differently? Did he say the same about his screaming around the pool in the bird nest? This IOC chief needs to check his motives.

The First Man To Set World Records in 100 and 200 Meter, Jamaican Usain Bolt Showed The Power of Yam

Jamaican wunderkind Usain Bolt hurtled to his second world record and his second Olympic gold medal in Beijing, finishing the 200-meter race today in 19.30 seconds to break Michael Johnson's 12-year-old mark.

Bolt became the first man to break the world record in both the 100 and 200 at the same Olympics. Not since Carl Lewis in 1984 has any man doubled in the Olympic 100 and 200.

Trelawny Yam Produces The Fastest Man on Earth; Usain Bolt's Father Credits The Power of Jamaican Yam

Usain BOLT streaked to 100 metres Olympic gold at the Beijing Olympics on Saturday thanks to yam power, his father said.

Wellesley Bolt said his son was partial to the vegetable grown in the north-western area of Jamaica where the sprinter was born.

“It is definitely the Trelawny yam,” Bolt senior said seconds after his son smashed the world record on the way to landing the biggest gold medal in sport.

The yam grown in the parish Trelawny is one of the staples that has made the area famous. It is sold in huge volumes here and much of it is exported.

“I spoke to him about two days ago and told him that I was getting nervous and he said ‘don’t worry Dad, I am going to win this one for you’,” Wellesley said from his home.

Usain Bolt, The Fastest Man on Earth More Popular Than All Hollywood Stars, Superman, Paris Hilton and Politicians, Jay-Z, Kobe, Redeemed Team, Oprah

On Friday, for every person searching for Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Paris Hilton, Ronaldinho, David Beckham, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods, Jay-Z, or Oprah, there were 7.5 persons searching for Bolt, based on trend data from internet site Google. In fact Sunday Finance could not find an athlete, pop star or politican more searched for than Bolt following his world record wins in the 100-metre, 200-metre and 4x100 relay at the Olympics in Beijing, China.

Not even Superman is more visible online. For every person searching for Superman, five searched for Bolt up to Friday. It is not easy to beat Superman which is one of the most searched items on the internet. Sunday Finance compared the two, utilising Google Trends which analyses how many searches have been done for the terms over time. Google then shows the results graphically. In terms of news results there were 7,776 for Superman versus 39,216 for Bolt. The news section highlights most current webpages, which is important because simply typing in Superman or Bolt in the main search area will garner both old and new webpages-which of course would favour Superman many times over.

We Are All Jamaicans: We See Ourselves in Usain Bolt, Dreaming About Flying and Writing Poetry With Our Legs

Usain Bolt's Celebration After Winning the Men's 200-meter Final in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Usain Bolt's stride was exactly "poetry in motion. He is not like a beast running. He's a gazelle...And he recognized the responsibility of seizing the moment, and he did it."

The world watched the race that set apart the World's Fastest Human apart from the rest of us. Usain Bolt did for Jamaica what Jamaican Coffee has not been able to do thus far. Well, we must say that the two of them will be great representatives of Jamaica from now on. By doing so, he joined the ranks of Carl Lewis of the United States who was the last runner to win both in the same Olympics.

And the quotes just expressed the disbelief and bewilderment that most people felt on this day. "How fast can one human being go before there's no more going fast?" Let Usain describe what he saw after his win.

"I was looking at myself and saying, "That guy's fast," Bolt said after watching a replay of his race, "I was saying, 'I look cool.'" Long Live Jamaica! Jamaica truly has Usain Bolt, the Coffee and Bob Marley. It is a cool place to be from. On this day, we are all Jamaicans. Jamaicans everywhere should be overjoyed and overwhelmed on this day.

Jamaica's minister of information, culture, youth and sports put her own spin on things: "We eat healthy. We have the natural talent. We train. And we have a tradition of being great athletes. It is a wonderful gift."

Was this Olympic feast due to good, healthy eating only? Yes, Caribbean people have yams. Jamaica even exports the starchy food item. Yam eating is good for athletes. It is good for Usain Bolt and the Jamaican women who swept the competition and ended 1,2,3. Yam has no drugs. Others have speculated that Jamaicans' success could be because of more than healthy eating, cherised tradition and natural talent. If you think about the sport's recent history of drug cheats such as Marion Jones, Justin Gatlin, Tim Montgomery and Kelli White, then you may think that the U.S. sports have a major problem, but not Jamaica. Bolt has been tested so many times. It was pure natural talent and training.

It is a great site that has been supporting the girls who sacrifice themselves to bring us joy on the sidelines. No matter what the audition time and their work schedule, they manage to make it to the meetings to give us the show we all expect.

The site has a lot of resources for anybody who is interested in a cheerleader's position with the NFL. In case you thought that the cheerleaders had no life, think again. Consider the case of former Washington Wizard Kristie who left her dancing times with the NBA team to knock on doors of the Capitol until one was opened at a congressman's office where she is a staffer. Hard work pays off for her. Not only does she have a great body, but she also learns that patience and hard work, determination are great skills in the workplace.

The NFL cheerleader blog has lots of information for everybody who is looking. It also has some great, fabulous pictures of all the NFL teams. Check it out.

Carolina Panthers Receive Steve Smith Gave Black Eyes to Teammate Ken Lucas; He has Anger Management Issues

Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith was sent home from training camp Friday after he punched teammate Ken Lucas at practice, leaving the starting cornerback holding an ice pack to his left eye before he was carted to the locker room.

Panthers coach John Fox said Smith and Lucas returned to Charlotte, about 80 miles away, after the fight. Neither player was present for the team’s second practice Friday night.

The Panthers didn’t provide an update on the extent of Lucas’ injuries and club officials declined to say if the volatile Smith, the team’s top receiver, would be suspended.
